Georgia Entertainment and Film Savannah recently hosted Savannah Spotlight: Entertainment Amplified at Old Savannah Distillery, bringing together members of Georgia's film and creative industries for an evening of networking and collaboration. The event featured remarks from Georgia Entertainment Founder and CEO Randy Davidson, Savannah Film Commissioner Walker Dalton, and Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bert Brantley, highlighting the continued growth of Savannah's entertainment industry. Savannah Jazz and Hindsight Film Festival will present a free screening of 'The Disappearance of Miss Scott' on July 26 at the Savannah History Museum. The PBS American Masters documentary explores the life and legacy of jazz pianist, singer, and civil rights trailblazer Hazel Scott. The event includes a free self-guided tour of the Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame exhibit from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., followed by the documentary screening at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free, though a $10 donation is encouraged to support Savannah Jazz. The Savannah Regional Film Commission recently completed another successful Production Assistant Bootcamp, bringing together aspiring film professionals from across the region for a weekend of hands-on training and industry education. Led by industry professionals Witt Lacy, Nora Clark, Ryan Watterson, and Anthony Peznola, the program provided participants with an introduction to the essential skills and responsibilities required on professional film and television productions. Topics included Production Assistant duties, set etiquette, lock-ups, resume development, networking, and insights into the current state of the industry. Beyond the technical training, the bootcamp offered participants an opportunity to build connections with fellow filmmakers and industry professionals while gaining a deeper understanding of career pathways within the production industry. The Savannah Regional Film Commission remains committed to workforce development and creating opportunities for local residents to enter and grow within the film industry. On June 17, SCAD and the Lucas Theatre for the Arts will present a special premiere screening of Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul. This one-night event includes a live musical performance, a post-screening Q&A with members of the filmmaking team, and special exhibits from the Allman Brothers Band Big House Museum. The screening was brought to our attention by Mary Dugas, founder and executive director of the Savannah Music Collective, who continues to work on music legacy projects with the Gregg Allman Estate and other community initiatives. We are excited to see the new season (S5) of Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias and especially proud that a portion of the season finale was filmed right here in Savannah. It was an honor to help welcome the production to our city and to see Savannah featured in Netflix’s coverage of the new season. As showrunner Sheryl J.
