Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GA DNR)

If your production includes locations on the beach or on the water, GA DNR issues Letters of Permission (LOP) for authorization to use production equipment in the State of Georgia’s Shore Protection Act (SPA) Jurisdiction or the Coastal Marshlands Protection Act (CMPA) Jurisdiction.

Please note that every LOP includes a mandatory 15 day notification period. This means that after the LOP is executed and your request is approved, no work or activities can commence until the 15 day period has expired.

Savannah River

For Film Permits that involve the Savannah River please use the Marine Event Permit. Please note that applications for marine events must be received by the Boating Law Administrator at least 30 days prior to the event. Applications for water events (10,000 or more participants and spectators) must be received at least 90 days prior to the event Unless a special deadline for a restricted water is in effect. Complete and legible faxes are acceptable. More info on the permit process can be found here.

Fort Pulaski National Monument

A Special Use Permit is required to conduct special events and activities at Fort Pulaski National Monument.

Certain special events are permitted on park grounds and inside the fort. However, no activity can interfere with the daily operation of the park or with the visiting public. No part of the fort or park grounds will be closed or reserved for such events.

All student permit applications must be accompanied by a description of the requisite project from the professor and the signed student confirmation form below.

Please fill out and return the required form to Fort Pulaski National Monument. Permit applications must be submitted at least one month (30 days) in advance of the requested activity dates. Applications will not be accepted for activities occurring more than a year (365 days) out.


Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)

A Georgia Department of Transportation permit is required for all requested use of the right-of-way for film purposes. Permits are issued by District Traffic Operations. If locations requested are in multiple Districts, a separate Permit must be issued for each District.

Savannah Hilton Head International Airport

All commercial filming, non-profit and student filming, videography, and commercial photography requests at the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport must be reviewed and approved by the Savannah Airport Commission. The permitting process requires a minimum of two weeks.

Certificate of Insurance should address Savannah Airport Commission as the loss payee.
