Ava DuVernay’s Origin, which filmed in Savannah, wowed audiences at the Venice Film Festival. Receiving a nine-minute standing ovation following it’s screening, DuVernay made history as the first film by a Black female director from the U.S. to be included in Venice’s official competition across the event’s 80-year duration!

The official trailer for The Color Purple the musical has been released.

The film is the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel by the same name and portrays the horrific hardships of an African American woman living in the south in the early 1900s.

Parts of the film were shot last year all over the Savannah region. See if you can recognize any of our locations in the trailer.
